   Material Assistance

Australian Karen Foundation (AKF) supports the provision of material assistance, such as clothing, furniture and household goods, to Karen people arriving in Australia.  Now many Karen are seeking computers and tuition, to develop their skills, for themselves and for their children.

   Airfare Assistance

AKF facilitates the funding of airfares for Karen refugees to come to Australia.  When they arrive, the Karen pay back their loans, and in so doing provide funds for other families to come.  If you would like to donate funds to assist a Karen family start a new life in Australia, please contact us.  Donations are tax deductible.

   Raising Awareness

AKF has at least one public meeting each year in order to present background and updated information about Burma and the Karen to people in Victoria. If you would like to attend an AKF meeting please visit Upcoming Events. To learn more about the situation in Burma you will find information in our Background and Links sections. Young people from the Karen Community are available to tell the Karen Story, and speakers are available from AKF to tell community and church groups the story of what is happening in the twentyfirst century to the people who find themselves in the refugee camps on the Thai Burma border.

AKF is also facilitating donations raised in Australia getting to the Karen in the Delta cyclone affected area.
